Vapers in European Union countries have until Feb. 16 to submit comments to the EU Commission public consultation on the Tobacco Excise Directive (TED).
The commission is considering the inclusion of e-cigarettes and vape products in the TED. The idea that tobacco-free, low-risk products should be taxed along with harmful combusted tobacco ought to be enough to get every vaper mad.
Getting mad won’t stop the taxes though.
In the next three days, every vaper needs to take action. If you want to learn more, the New Nicotine Alliance (NNA) has a brief primer, and also a full analysis submitted by NNA associate Clive Bates.
Vapers In Power (VIP) has produced a step-by-step guide to the online consultation form that makes the process simpler. Unless you’re very familiar with this process, reading the NNA document and checking out the VIP page are both suggested.
Thanks to every vaper who’s already done this, and all those who still plan on it. Everyone should bother — I mean persuade — two or three friends or family members to spend a few minutes on it too.
